Interested in studying Materials Science abroad? Apply for the Grenoble Exchange Program within the Materials Engineering Department!

Located in the heart of the French Alps, Grenoble is a charming city and the capital for materials engineering in France. Students on this exchange will not only immerse themselves in the French lifestyle & culture, but they will learn from esteemed researchers in a variety of Materials Engineering fields, and use specialized characterization equipment to perform hands-on labs with likeminded students.

The 2024 Exchange Booklet is written by some of the 2024 participants, and is a useful resource for students interested in applying and those participating in the exchange. It has information about: the overall exchange program, courses, class environment & evaluations, campus, accommodations, public transportation, visas, sim cards, and banking.

The Exchange Application Process

  1. Dr. Zurob will present to 2nd year students during one of their class periods in the Winter semester* in the year preceding the exchange

  2. Interested students will submit their resume, cover letter, and if they wish to work for 4 months following the school term, a paragraph stating their area of interest to the contact given by Dr. Zurob

  3. Students will be notified of their acceptance later on in the Winter term*

  4. Throughout the Spring/Summer terms, students will complete their applications to the McMaster Exchange program and the University of Grenoble Alps Exchange program

  5. Once accepted, it’s time to start packing! The exchange takes place from January - April, with a May - August work term if they wish

This is provided by the MSE Department. It is usually presented by Dr. Zurob during one of the 2B03 tutorials in order to introduce the exchange program to the second-year students, other interested students are invited to join too.
